Why our microgreens?
At Erin Prairie Plant Company, our microgreens are sold as a living product you harvest when you are ready to eat it resulting in an incredibly fresh product with full nutritional value. Another benefit of a living product is that the microgreens will last considerably longer than those having already been harvested. We grow our microgreens on a natural substrate pad which typically produces 3 oz. of microgreens depending on variety. We sell all microgreens for the same $5 price.
Typical grocery store microgreens are already harvested, losing their nutritional value, and you get approximately 1 oz. of microgreens for a similar price.
We started growing microgreens for ourselves, along with others around us, as a way to provide nutritionally dense food at a more reasonable cost. Our process of selling a live product direct to our customers is as close to farm to table as you can get.
Oh, and we should mention, they’re pretty tasty too… Tim DiBona – Grower
Meet the Microgreens
Radish Mix
Our radish microgreens have a beautiful, vibrant purple, pink, and green color that taste like a peppery radish bulb. You may think the microgreens would taste similar to the green leaves of a full-grown radish bulb, but they taste more like the bulb than the radish greens.
Leek
Leek microgreens have a vibrant green color with a mild onion like flavor and a tiny hint of cucumber. The taste is less bitter than scallions.
Red Cabbage
Red cabbage microgreens have a deep purple color that taste like fresh sweet cabbage combined with a bit of spiciness at the finish.
Kohlrabi Mix
Our kohlrabi microgreens have a mix of purple and white stems with dark green, almost purple leaves. They have a lightly sweet turnip or broccoli flavor.
Broccoli Mix
Broccoli microgreens have a deep green color that taste like a miniature version of fully-grown broccoli with a mild flavor and provide an extra added crunch.
Spicy Salad Mix
Spicy salad microgreens have a colorful combination of green and purple leaves and stems. The flavorful and colorful combination contains Broccoli, Kale, Kohlrabi, Arugula, Red Cabbage & Mustard for an extra kick.
